great dryer, bad hook-up desogn

Just received delivery and was not too happy to find the gas hook-up sticks straight out of the back making a potential for crushing or breaking the gas line. I suggest a 90-degree angle gas port like most other brands. Also, the dryer vent connection is a solid tube, making the redirection o...f the vent to rather side impossible without disassembling the dryer and purchasing a length of flex. I suggest the dryer vent port connection inside the dryer be substituted for a piece of flex hose so one can connect the dryer hose on either side of the dryer using the cutouts built into the housing. The stacking kit uses brackets which lock around the dryer's feet which is not secure when moving the unit around as the feet easily squeeze and lift out of the brackets. It's not a confidence-inspiring method of mounting, but it does keep a cushion between the washer and stacked dryer which is a nice compromise between stability and vibration isolation. Finally, the AC plug should also be a 90-degree plug like most other brands as the straight plug makes tight installation impossible because of the danger of breaking the plug or severing the cord. Apart from the design flaws which negatively affect installation, the feature-set is extraordinary for this price-fixing. The flow sensor is a nice feature and it ensures you must level the unit else the clothing may fall against the front door covering the vent and triggering the flow sensor. It is a great safety feature for lint build-up on the exterior house dryer vent as well. The rotary cycle selector is very easy to use and we shall see how it holds up to normal use. The multiple heat and cooling settings really accommodate varying drying jobs and I look forward to gas and electric savings. The signal chimes are a pleasant alternative to the old-style buzzer still in use on many other brands. The panel buttons and lights are nice and big and visible. The separator strips between the buttons insure against accidentally slipping and pressing the wrong button. The reversable door is nice because it ships installed opposite of the washer which is good for side-by-side but not for stacking. Finally, I wish the dryer had a direct-drive motor like the washer has instead of the belt drive common to most other brands. I look forward to at least a decade of use from this machine.
