I was surprised at how dark the wood was. It looked much lighter in showroom. There's also a funny odor when opening doors and drawers! It is d beautiful set though!

Solid wood table nice for the whole daily to enjoy. Does not have a cheap finish compared to other tables.

Absolutely love this set. Purchased the table, 10 chairs, and the matching china hutch for my generously-sized dining room, and it really makes that room inviting yet completely capable of transforming into true elegance with the table fully extended and all ten chairs in service. I discovered several days after initial delivery (which was handled beautifully, according to my next-door neighbor, who received it for me when I unexpectedly had to leave the house on the designated delivery day to assist a friend with a medical emergency!!) that there was a significant scratch in one of the glass doors of the hutch -- because I had just moved into this home, and it took me a while to start dusting and polishing and glass-cleaning the set to start unpacking all my china. I was concerned whether I would prevail in a request to swap out the door without having to have the whole hutch replaced, since it was half-full of my china before I found the scratch. But ASF were true customer service champions about it, and within a couple of days of my having called them to let them know about the scratch, I had a new piece of glass in the door and all is perfect. Even my neighbor commented on what a nice-quality set it is, "...and believe me," he said, "I know good furniture." I did not realize when I bought the set that the lower center portion of the hutch is a 3-tiered wine rack, and I love it! I had had a built-in wine rack in my former home and was really missing it when I purchased this one, as I unpacked my boxes. That a delightful surprise to find I have one again, and it serves the purpose safely and attractively. I would definitely purchase from ASF again, the next time I need something for my home.
