Newer Tempurpedics are cooler when sleeping; that's a plus!

About 20 years ago, we decided to ditch our queen mattress and upgrade to a king-sized mattress. Off to the store we went, dragging our 8-year old daughter with us. We sat on a few beds, nothing felt great. My daughter found the only Tempurpedic on the floor and told us to come over and try it; m...y husband loved immediately; I was on the fence still. We purchased it and I thought to myself, I'm returning this well before the 60 days. I had a mind-blowing experience that first night. At that time, I suffered from aching hips from my old mattress. That first night, after we walked across bed to loosen up mattress, was the first night in forever, I didn't get out of bed to the calling of the 3 a.m. "tinkle fairy". Our backyard neighbors had a garage fire; I never heard the fire engine's sirens or any of the commotion that was occurring right behind us because I had my first great night's sleep on our new Tempurpedic mattress! We were beyond thrilled with our new mattress and never slept better. Fast forward 20 years and a foster dog that bit a big chunk of our mattress, we decided that it was time for an adjustable bed to help with our digestive, sinus and leg swelling issues. Off to the store we went with only Tempurpedic visions dancing in our heads. I wanted a less hard mattress; something with a little more give so I could roll over easier and went with a Tempur-hybrid and my husband got the Tempur-adapt medium. Unfortunately, after four days, my mattress was like sleeping on a hammock, no support at all and my husband wasn't sold on his either. I couldn't sleep on mine so off to the guest room I went. I gave my husband 10 days to tell me whether he liked his mattress or not; 'cause I was going to return mine (it took three weeks to get the mattresses in the first place). On day 10, he told me he liked his mattress. I went back to store and returned mine, only to be told that I could only do this once. For the investment we just made into this new adjustable bed & mattresses? That policy stinks by the way. It took another three weeks for my replacement mattress to arrive. I ended up with the same mattress, the Tempur-adapt Medium, as my husband. He was nice enough to switch mattresses while we waited for my replacement, so I didn't have to sleep in the guest bedroom. He also agreed that the mattress was like sleeping on a hammock. Are we "sold" on these two mattresses like we were on our first Tempurpedic? Not so much. But I can tell you that the adjustable bed part is magical! I haven't suffered from acid reflux or heart burn since we've had it, making for a much better night's sleep! The $300 in "free" product was a bust as well; the two mattress covers we got (because we have twin XL mattresses) are cheap and "plastic(ee)"; making it sound and feel like you are sleeping on diapers so much noise so I ditched those and purchased new ones and the sheet sets have also been replaced; they lifted off the corners of the mattresses and bunched up underneath you. The Tempurpedic contour pillows are keepers though! We also ditched the two twin XL flat sheets and opted for king-sized flat sheet. Thank goodness for 20 years of product development, 'cause our new mattresses do not retain the heat like our old mattress did.
